Well, this is a first for me...  as I was preparing to do an install (dishwasher) at a customers house the other day, I introduced myself to their dog.  It was a little yapper, and so I leaned down to put my hand in front of it's nose.  Now I've heard conflicting reports, some say palm up, as the dog will interpret that as respectful.  Some say palm down so that the dog knows you're not scared of it.  Well, I chose palm up, held out my hand, and that stinkin' dog bit my hand!

First... we all have glasses now (except Stephen).

We found out that Clarkson Eyecare offers a 'scholarship' for low-income families.  Being self-employed with seven kids we easily qualify.  Since we knew that the kids really did need glasses soon, we decided to go ahead and take a little charity (on that subject I may blog later, it'd be more than I want to do now).  All our girls are far-sighted and Ellie and Grace both have lazy eye and astigmatisms.  All the boys (again, except Stephen)...

A very detailed study of how people rate their own health, based on political party, is quite revealing. Republicans rated themselves much healthier mentally than others, even when taking into account education, income, religion, etc. "The table shows that income, education, gender, church attendance, and being a Republican are significantly related to self-reported mental health -- each such relationship occurring even when the impact of the other variables is taken into account." Well, the last pic, in which the new van is displayed, showed a cemetery visible. I thought it warranted a little explanation (plus I wanted to test using pictures some more).  Here's the same place from a different angle.



The chapel in the background is Hicks Chapel.  Laurel's ggpa and ggma used to attend church there.  Laure's ggma was buried here when she died, and they had purchased...
