It was 'routine', but as much as we dislike going to the hospital, I think for both of us it was more than a little stressful.
She had a 'cervical polyp'. Nothing serious (we have some suspicions as to why, but it's pretty in-depth and I don't want to do that here), and it was simply cut out, but required stretching her cervix to get at it. So, she pretty much feels like she went through part of what she does when giving birth, except without the body doing it's part to loosen up first...
One thing that stands out is that our doctor at first was very reluctant to talk frankly with us, and he still doesn't trust us. This is something that I find very distasteful. I asked how bleeding would be stopped, and he basically gave me the run-around, though I didn't press for an answer. Almost as if he either doesn't want us to know, or doesn't think we'd understand cauterizing... We had to push to get us both together with him before surgery.
I sat in the waiting room for about 2 hours, mostly reading... occasional small talk with some others who were in and out for blood work. Then they brought her up and we drove home, stopping for tylenol and ice cream (which we haven't eaten yet). Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and alcohol all do nasty things to the liver and while recovering from general anesthesia the liver needs to be doing well.
I ordered some Dominoes pizza, and L managed to eat a couple slices, and then called her folks. She's now resting (sleeping well, I hope), and once she's up, she'll probably manage to get to the computer to do an update to her blogs and such.
Thanks to all who were praying, we greatly appreciate it, and would appreciate continued prayers as well!
