Tragedy has struck?  Tragedy struck?  Tragedy strikes again?  Hmm...  me conjugating verbs.  Not something I usually get stuck on, but 'Tragedy has struck' sounds weird.

Anyway...  a couple weeks ago my hard drive crashed.  Fortunately not the one all our important documents and pictures are on, but still...  So, I had to reinstall windows.  I haven't purchased a replacement HD yet, but just installed windows on the drive we used for file storage (is it weird that I switch between first person singular and first person plural?)  And so, everything is fine.

Yesterday, I suddenly realized that there were some things I had not saved on the file storage HD.  One, the story I started working on (fantasy, in the line of David Eddings or JRR Tolkein, though I don't have the way with words that they have, so maybe more along the lines of Robert Jordan, if I can make the story interesting enough.  I didn't have much... maybe the first chapter in a rough draft, and half of an appendix or the skeleton of a history behind the story.  It's a story that's been coming together for maybe the past 20 years, and I finally put some of it on paper (virtually speaking).  So even though it was only a few pages, it feels like I lost quite a bit.  I'm a little bummed about that.  If the mood strikes me, I suppose I'll try to rewrite it.

Two, saved images from the game L and I play together (Lord of the Rings Online).  This is more bearable to lose, but I noticed it when I needed an image for another website and suddenly realized that the hundreds of 'screenshots' I'd taken were gone.  Again, not a big deal... but a bit of a bummer.  Maybe in a few days I'll post some pics from the game, just to give you an idea of what it looks like.

And remember, back up your files!
